The July 4th holiday weekend was jam packed for us. We started out the festivities with a 5k that I signed us up for well before my foot injury. The entire town runs it! I haven't been cleared to run, but didn't want to let my entry fee go to waste so decided to just take it easy since I'm not pain free yet.
Dustin, on the other hand, did amazing!!! He finished 11th overall and 1st in the male 30-39 age category! His finish time was 19:41 (6:20/mile). So proud of him! I ran it in 26:14 (8:26/mile) which surprised me considered I ran with a lopsided gait to compensate for my foot and it was only my second run since the injury 9 weeks ago. Nevertheless, it was fun to do and kickstarted the weekend fun.
My good friend and running buddy, Jessica Smith, won 3rd place overall, and 1st place overall for all the women with a new PR. She amazes me. I want to be like her one day. :)
Dustin with his 1st place medal! Next on the days agenda - the town parade! July 4th in a small town. Who knew?
