Longhorn Football!!!

As you know, Dusty and I are huge college football fans. So it should be no surprise that we are brainwashing Carleigh at an early age (unless she wants to go ivy league ... that's fine, too). So we've started a tradition on game days to get her geared up in burnt orange and come early, be loud and stay late!!! (If you are a Longhorn, you know that saying). This is a new tradition since we gave up our season tickets :( but it is a great time to enjoy the games in the comfort of our house (though, honey if you are reading this, I do love going to the games)!

Anyways, today was the game against Texas Tech and though it wasn't the slaughter we thought it would be, we did beat them 34-24. A very good game, indeed. We warmed
Carleigh up on her play mat and she was in game mode by kickoff!!!

Her
cheerleading outfit was a bit big but will fit her nicely by the end of the season. By 2, she will hopefully know the Texas fight song! Here are a few older longhorn pics (from days 5-10 of her life):

My birthday weekend

What a fun-filled weekend! Dustin coordinated a birthday dinner for me at Amorcito's with friends and family that was very nice on Friday. We had food/drinks, people got to see Carleigh, and Dusty bought me a new camera (among other generous gifts I received)! I can't wait to start using it. It's an SLR camera which I've been wanting because of the zoom capabilities.

Saturday, we lazed around the house with Tara, Brad and Carter and watched football all day. Carter and Carleigh slept and ate and hung out together.

Dustin passed his CFP test!

Great news today!!! Besides being my 3oth birthday, we just got news that Dustin passed his CFP exam! He is now a Certified Financial Planner! What a relief that is. I am so proud of him! It is fabulous to know that now he can concentrate on his career and our family and not have to keep studying so hard, like he's been doing this past year. Congrats, Dustin! We are so happy for you!

Back to work :( .... but back to my pre-prego size!

I've been on maternity leave for just over six weeks and today I had to start back to work. Luckily, I'm only at the office from 7:30 am - 11:30 am and Gigi is watching Carleigh in the mornings but it is still hard leaving her each and every day.

They are right when they say being a mom is overwhelming. You never really appreciate all that your own mom did for you until you yourself become a mom. It seems like there is never enough time to be a good wife, mother, housekeeper, dog mom, sleep and exercise.

Speaking of exercise, I've gotten the okay to exercise again and am happy to say I am back in most all of my pre-pregnancy clothes. I still have a few pounds to go, but it's amazing how the body can go back to what it was so quickly. I don't know whether to thank my mom or my dad's genes (though I am sure my dad would say it's his just like everything else I've inherited ... silly guy) ... but thank you.

It's hard to believe Carleigh's already six weeks old! Papaw (great-grandpa) is really enjoying her, though between the grandparents, finding time to see her on weekends is tough because she's normally taken. Carleigh is more than adored by her grandparents!
