Post-Tube Ear Infection

You read correctly.  Carleigh has an ear infection!  :(  The good news is it doesn't seem to be affecting her temperment AT ALL!  She is happy-as-ever!  She's got a low grade fever and the only way I knew something might be going on with her ear was that she had a nasty looking fluid coming out of it yesterday.  Come to find out, that's how post-tube ear infections look.  (and the only way you really know they have them besides a fever).  The reason she's not too upset by it is because the tubes are allowing the infected fluid to drain out of her ear instead of building up the pressure on the middle ear, like before.  Antibiotic eardrops are all that were prescribed forseven days.

No more holding :(

Okay, so maybe we were late on this, not sure, but the one thing I was still treasuring about Carleigh's age was that she still let me (and Dusty) hold her when it was milk time.  Well, this morning, she officially relinquished that pleasure from us.  Mid-day, same deal:  no holding.  She can drink her milk (formula) by herself!

New bows

I ordered a bunch of corker "pairs" for Carleigh's pigtails and oh-what-fun I'm having showing her hair off these days!  Thanks, Callie and Pinkadot Tots!!!

Lake LBJ

This past weekend we went to Dustin's Aunt and Uncle's house on LBJ for his Uncle Buster's 60th birthday!  What a fun time we had!  Even though it was Buster's birthday, as always, Carleigh was the center of attention!

Playgrounds are so much fun now!

Now that Carleigh is sliding by herself, playgrounds are so much fun for her!  She even goes through the tunnels!  Hot weather and all, she doesn't care.  Crazy how fast time is flying by!

Sliding down the slide alone!

BIG GIRL!!!  (sorry for our annoying voices) ... but parents watching the video with little ones know that the "encouragement" voice is high pitched and kids respond to it.

My Kitchen Helper

Precocious little Carleigh finds her way into everything ... including the dishwasher.  The world is her oyster, and I'm just in the way.

Carter's 1st birthday party!

Look who turned one!  We rocked it out at his birthday party Sunday!!!
Carleigh was eager to show Carter her "Carter's my Rockstar" shirt!
It took him a while to notice.
The party was so much fun!!!
Happy Birthday Carter!!!

Lake time

We had a jam-packed weekend!  It kicked off at Medina lake with friends and family at the Tondre's place.  We wake-boarded and cooked out.  I say we, but Dustin did the grilling!  Carleigh tried her first cigar, and thankfully, hated it!  And we had a bonfire later that night.  It was perfect weather and perfect company for a lake weekend!

The Power of Dora

We had to do a double-take yesterday when we heard Carleigh dancing around the family room while watching Dora.  I've heard friends say kids really do learn from the show, but had no idea it could start so young!!!

Tube Procedure

Yesterday, Carleigh underwent her tube procedure with no major issues.  She didn't come out of anesthesia as well as last time (endoscopy/sigmoidoscopy) and was really sick in the post-op area.  We think it's due to the liquid valium type medication they gave her prior to the surgery.  It left her really groggy and nauseous.  She didn't have that the last time she was put under anesthesia.
When we got her home, she was cranky and clingy, as I expected, but ran a rather high temperature.  It hovered between 102 - 103 degrees most of the afternoon even with Motrin and Tylenol.  The only smile I got from her all afternoon, was when Gigi came over for a visit and then it was like, "I feel fine, Mommy!" I think Carleigh was just excited to see someone besides me.  Figures.  Dustin and I monitored her overnight and this morning, both temperature and behavior were back to normal.  She's climbing everything!!!

Amanda and Justin's Shower - a little Mommy and Daddy time

This past Saturday night, Dustin and I drove up to Austin to celebrate Amanda and Justin's upcoming nuptials.  I was one of the hostesses and we had a fabulous couple's bridal shower for them at Abel's on the Lake, overlooking Lake Austin.  In just 6 short weeks we will be in Mexico on the beach with them where they will say I do!
Merritt and I coordinated the decor!  Check out these adorable glass marble magnets she made!  While we were setting up, I couldn't find Dustin and Kristy couldn't find Kenny ...
Didn't take long to find them.
Amanda and Justin arrived and the fun began!
All age ranges had a good time!
