Well, we just got back from a visit to the Children's ER (at the suggestion of our pediatrician). What an exhausting night.
It all started around 4:30 pm when Carleigh began screaming (reminiscent of her pre-reflux/milk allergy knowledge days) ear-piercing cries consistently for 2 hours. Dustin was working on an MBA class project at Incarnate Word, so I was alone with her. It was very taxing, I will be honest. She was crying. I was crying. The two of us were a mess. I am not over-exaggerating, the screaming went on for two hours, non-stop. I took videos with my phone to show to Dustin because I was at a loss for what to do.
She had exhibited this behavior Friday and Saturday, also. In fact, Friday, while my mother-in-law watched her Carleigh had exhibited this same behavior so I called Andrea up to ask her for any tips that had helped her. She couldn't even hear me over the crying so she just headed over to the house to try to help.
Upon her arrival (30 minutes later), Carleigh was still screaming, and that's when I called the on-call Dr. at my pediatric clinic. Dr. Pauli called back and said to definitely go to the ER because her crying (he could hear it in the background) sounded like intense pain and not just like gas/colic/reflux.
Long story shorter :) ... we go to the ER and Carleigh, of course, had finally passed out from exhaustion in her car seat. Upon poking and prodding her, they couldn't find anything wrong with her. We really wanted them to do a stomach x-ray but they said that unless her stool was bloody or she was excessively vomitting, they don't do those.
So we went home with no answers. And as soon as she woke up to eat, guess what happened? That's right, the crying started again!
So Dustin's and I are going to go down on the nipple size we are using for the bottles. Other than that ... we are going to check with the pediatrician this next week. Ugh ... crossing our fingers for a good night!

Celebrating Gigi's birthday
Too bad Carleigh can't eat yet ... she gets to go to some of the best restaurants! Tonight we went to Myron's Steakhouse in New Braunfels. We had steak and wine and Carleigh even woke up to enjoy the ambiance for a short while.
We then went back to my parents' house to enjoy an ice cream cake we bought my mom for her birthday (which was Thursday). It was a lovely evening.

Eating cereal with a spoon!
I promised pictures and here they are!
Mostly in her mouth, but still a mess on her face, and all over her bib!
Full, clean and happy!

Thanksgiving 2009
Thanksgiving was a wonderful family gathering! It was a fun filled day of food, family and football!!!
The food was amazing (and as always, too much) and the kids had a great time playing with Carleigh! She was piglet in honor of the gluttony that goes on during this holiday!
The day coincided with my mom's birthday and was also a special day for Carleigh because my grandfather baptized her in front of the family. It was a very intimate Christening. Carleigh wore the wore the dress my mom made her (made from my mom's wedding gown so it is very special and symbolic).
Wednesday at Willie's
We try to get together with the Little's at least once a week. This week we are fortunate to have gotten to go to dinner tonight and also this weekend with the Colby's. It's always fun to see each other and get our Carter fix!
Tara and Carter!!! He was smiling as soon as he ate his dinner!
Soon-to-be best buds!
Brad and Carleigh ... she's loves men!
Blowing bubbles! What a cutie!
Daddy and his girl! We love Willie's nights!

Let me read to you!
Carleigh's just now starting to really grasp things and actually hold on to them. Board books are her newest thing and when we get them out to read them to her, she really wants to hold them herself. Though Dusty and I will read the words to her, depending on her mood, sometimes she grunts as we go through the pages.
Today, she was content to just rifle through the pages as I was snapping pictures and occasionally bite the edges of it. :)

Happy 4 months!
Carleigh is 4 months old today!
We just started her on brown rice cereal (organic with no wheat, no soy and no dairy due to her allergy) and she seems to love it! She just started over the weekend and is taking it in her bottles at night and then by spoon in the mornings. It is also supposed to help with her reflux so that's a bonus, too!

UT vs. Kansas game
Texas 51, Kansas 20
Here are some pics from a fun weekend of tailgating and watching the 'Horns get one step closer to the Rose Bowl!!!
The setup was quite nice and we even were able to watch the early games on mulitiple flat screens before the projector/screen was setup!
Bubba and Gigi enjoyed watching Carleigh while Dusty and I were in Austin.

Baby Shower Mania
These past two weekends have been crazy for us! I hosted Courtney's twin shower last Saturday with Kim and my mom.
Stella and Carloine are going to be very spoiled and loved!!! It was a lovely gathering!
Then we had Kathy and Stevie's shower this Saturday to celebrate baby Blake! He's up to 4 lbs. Still in the NICU but hope is good that he may be out in December. Let's keep our fingers crossed. It would be wonderful to meet the little guy before Christmas. What a miracle baby!
Sunday, I hosted a baby shower for Marne and baby Tennyson. What an extravagant shower!! We wanted to make it a very fun shower since "fun" is an appropriate word for Marne. It was great to see Marne so happy!
After all that though, I'm ready to sit back and relax a bit and enjoy my own baby! :)
