Tara's Shower for Baby Harper

Last Sunday, Marne and I threw a "sprinkle" shower for Tara and baby Harper.
We tried to coordinate our decor with the "sprinkle" idea, even down to the sprinkle donuts, cupcakes and sprinkle cucumber sandwiches!  Our shower favors were even tied in; bath beads for "sprinkling" in the bath.  Tara enjoyed celebrating with friends and family and baby Harper is going to be one loved little girl!!!

Three Musketeer Gift Exchange

So even though it was 3 weeks late, we did our annual Three Musketeer Christmas gift exchange this past Saturday.  We had dinner, opened gifts, and played indoors and out.
We know by now that candid action shots are the only ones we are going to get of these 2 year olds.
So while they were coloring, we got a few smiles and "ta-da's."
Marne, Tara and I actually got to spend quite a bit of time talking and drinking (water for Tara) because the men owned the kids when they were outdoors.  Tara is ove 6 months pregnant!!!
The kids were super excited to get to open presents several weeks after Christmas!  Carleigh absolutely loves the Animal Planet Treehouse she got and her princess books!  T and Carter were also pleased with their toys.
It looks like Carleigh's sharing here, but she's actually getting quite territorial over her present.  She got in a lot of trouble for her agressive behavior towards T.  Later in bed, when I asked her why she hit him (numerous time), she said "my animals are mine!"  The sharing skill is still very much in the early development stage.  She knows she should share, but doesn't want to.
Brad helped Carter open his Tag Reader!
And Tennyson couldn't get passed his hot wheels (even though there was a big plane toy waiting to be opened)!  He was very sweet showing them off to everyone and sharing with Carter and Carleigh.

It was a jam packed night and the kids were never bored!  Carter and Tennyson even stayed up the entire time (almost 11)!  Carleigh needed her beauty sleep and turned in at 9.

All in all, (save for a hit or two) it was a great night of memory making with great friends!!!  Looking forward to next year and Parker and Harper joining in the fun!

Bigz Birthday

Best friends, Tara and Marne met me at Bigz Wednesday to celebrate my birthday mom-style (aka at a place where the kids can run and play and we can talk).
They love my camera antics!
Ok it's the best we could do; Carleigh and Carter are copying Tara but the smiles are all we cared about.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!  (she probably thinks everyday is my birthday based on the amount of recognition I'm getting).
She wanted to open my present.  Now I know, presents make her smile!

Group shot attempt 1.

And that's a wrap!  It's hard to orchestrate 3 kids in front of the camera when all they want to do is get down and run!  We had fun, though!  Gotta love great friends!

Sea World Playdate!

We are really putting our season pass to use this year!  On our third trip in just a few weeks, the girls and the kids and I went to Sea World Wednesday in place of our regular play date.

This time, Carleigh wanted to "ride," as she said, the carousel over and over and we even tried the Abby Roller Coaster.  No one cried, though they were all a bit nervous about it.

It's so funny how in just a month (since Tatum's birthday), Carleigh has become so comfortable on a carousel!  She loves to go up and down now and when we are not riding, points at the carousel and says "horsies" or "ride" to let me know she wants to do them again.  Thank goodness for this pass!

But her favorite part of the whole park is the the dolphins!  She isn't afraid to feed them or reach out to touch them.  She is my little animal lover!!!

All the kids had a blast in the Lost Lagoon Area and thankfully it helped cool us all off on such a hot day!!!

The Three Musketeers still going strong!

Swim Play Date with T!

At 21.5 months, Carleigh is already a girl who knows what she wants.  In an effort to excite her, often times, I mention what we are doing later in the day or who is coming over.  Big mistake on Monday.  As soon as she heard T was coming over to swim (I told her at 7 am), she wouldn't stop looking out the windows, checking the front door and screaming for Tennyson!  Thank goodness he and Marne arrived after lunch and assuaged her anxiety.
The water was much warmer than last week.  The kids got acclimated fast!

It was Tennyson's first time in floaties and he did great.  Carleigh was cheering him on!

Our neighborhood's baby pool is 80% shaded which was nice or the kids.

Carleigh's comfort in the water is getting better and better.  She no longer needs me right next to her all the time and does a great job of kicking her feet to keep upright.

We were the only ones there and it was nice to have both pools all to ourselves!

Marne and T!

Carleigh practicing jumping of the side to me!  Big girl!

T taking a water break.

Forget a towel, she just laid out on the chair to dry off.

The four of us!  Good times always!

Rock N Roll Half Marathon 2010

This past weekend wasn't just the big Rock N Roll Half Marathon but a Sole Sisters getaway!  Kelly, Kim, Tara and I left the kids at home and enjoyed a nice stay at the Embassy Suite Riverwalk Hotel downtown!  Not to mention, we were just blocks from the starting line the next morning!  Saturday night we went to Caperelli's on Main for a little carb-loading and a few glasses of wine to loosen up the muscles, a little pre-race ritual for me.  It was a great time!  Oh ya, and the race was awesome, too!  We met up with Marne and her and Tara ran together and Kelly and Kim did the relay.  It was a crisp, cool run and over 30,000 people ran!  My goal was under 2 hours, stretch goal 1:55 and I finished in 1:53:55!  That's 8:37 per mile for 13.1 miles!  So proud of myself especially just a few weeks after the full marathon!
Next up on my running agenda ... a break.  I plan on resting up for a few months and perhaps thinking about the Zoomba 1/2 in Austin in March, but we'll see.
Oh and did I mention that Dustin and Brad spent the night together with the kids the night we were away?  Of course, Carleigh has no pants on!  But they were no worse for the wear the next day!  Good job, boys!
